SHOPPING HAUL: Let’s Spoil the Lips

You must be wondering what the above instrument is .. is it a perfume bottle? a bad-ass necklace - Lady Gaga style? ... a Christmas ornament???

No, no ladies. This is neither of those. What you are staring at is Velvet Matte Lipstick, by Christian Louboutin (in colour Rococotte).

Let me just start off by saying that I did not anticipate purchasing such an expensive lipstick during my last shopping trip ... it was quite the spontaneous splurge.

However, I have z e r o regrets. #sorrynotsorry

This lip colour has such a rich pigment and smooth texture to it, with a very soft touch finish. If I could describe what it would feel like if your lips tried on a pair of Louboutin shoes, this would be it - a smooth, delicate and luxurious experience!

The packaging speaks for itself. Presented in a black and gold jewlery box, the solid gold metal lipstick tube is tucked deeply into the velvety signature red casing. Described as being a woman's magic wand, this unique piece is topped with a crown cap with a small ring threaded with silk ribbon, so that the lipstick can also be used as a necklace. The lipstick also comes with a silk carrying pouch that it can be stored in while tucked away in your purse. This will prevent the metal tube from being scratched by car keys, coins, and other odds and ends in your purse.

Other than the packaging, I am in love with this lipstick because of its long-lasting qualities. It will last me almost an entire evening out. Even if I eat or drink, I rarely find myself having to reapply the lip colour - which is a major plus! The product lasts with comfort, and can be fully applied in one stroke!

Now the part you have all been waiting for ... how much did I pay for this bad boy?

At a whopping $115 CAD, this lipstick will not only provide you with an extremely rich and pigmented  shade, but it also feels so light and soft on your lips. Also, being a tough critic with my lipstick's longevity, I have to say that this product definitely met my standards and MORE. Specifically, the shade itself, "Rococotte" is a pretty universal shade that I think many skin tones can pull off. It is also a very versatile colour, and can be worn for a night on the town, or even casually during the day.

The second LUX-LIP related item that I purchased the other day is the Creme de Rose Smoothing Plumping Lip Balm by Christian Dior. I have been eyeing this product for such a long time, and I finally decided to try it out.

After using it for about a week or so, I find that this lip balm is perfect to wear before bed as a nighttime treatment. After applying this the night before, I find myself waking up with creamy, smooth and hydrated lips. This balm keeps your lips moisturized all through the night, which is the wonderful part. The delicate rose scent is an added plus!

My only drawback for this product is the fact that it did not provide any "plumping" effects at all. I did not purchase this product specifically for the plumping, but even so - the balm should be accurate with with what the label reads.
